About

The Mechanical Engineering Club, commonly referred to as Club Mech, is the student club of all Mech undergrad students. All Mechanical Engineering undergraduate students are a part of Club Mech – a portion of their student fees supports the services that Club Mech provides.Club Mech represents students in the Engineering Undergraduate Society (EUS) as well as within the Mechanical Engineering Department. Club Mech has a seat on the EUS Council, which means it provides representation in all EUS Council decisions. It also attends various feedback sessions and department meetings and gives the Mech Dept. student feedback regarding course curriculum and other issues that students may have such as courseload, classroom and lab spaces or resources and equipment.

In addition to acting as a representative for students, Club Mech holds several events and fundraisers throughout the year. Club Mech has held an annual beer garden called Mechstravaganza, after a few years hiatus this tradition that was revived in the fall of 2010. Club Mech also holds an annual Christmas Party for both students and faculty. Other events that Club Mech has held include a Tea Party, Halloween Party, Skywalk Minigolf and Mech Triathalon. Periodically throughout the year, Club Mech hosts barbecues as well as other smaller parties.

Club Mech has a strong relationship with the community and has hosted several major fundraisers. Often Club Mech will participate in a Blood Drive in the fall and spring. Around Christmas time, Club Mech will often challenge Faculty members in order to raise money and donations for the Food Bank. Starting in the spring of 2010, Club Mech, along with Beta Theta Pi, has held an annual cancer fundraiser in memory of Thomas Ludwicki, a former Mechanical undergrad student.

In CEME 2207, Club Mech has a clubroom that is open to all Mech students. It has couches, foosball tables, gaming consoles, a ping pong table, free lockers, kitchen space – fridge, microwaves, toaster oven, coffee maker, kettle, sink, some dishes/cuttlery – and some of the cheapest vendies on campus. The room is a great place to eat lunch, relax between classes, vent about classes or just get homework done. It is also where Club Mech hosts some of its smaller events.
