Club Mech

How many of you included “get more exercise” as one of your New Year’s resolutions for 2013? If you did, then I’ve got some fun ways to help you stick to your goal. If you didn’t, or don’t make New Year’s resolutions, you should still consider the following events that will add more to your UBC experience and allow you to exercise and have a blast at the same time.

The first is UBC Rec’s next special event: GLADIATOR. I’m sure most of you have seen this fun activity before at carnivals, etc. Check out the event here: http://rec.ubc.ca/events/gladiator/ You have until Monday, Jan 14 to sign up!

Next you have an assortment of tournaments to choose from including: FUTSAL, CURLING, TABLE TENNIS, and BADMINTON. Registration for futsal and curling closes on Jan 21 and for table tennis and badminton on Jan 28. Club Mech will subsidize 50% of your fees for any UBC Rec event that you do. Your team must consist mostly of mechanical engineers and you will need to email your receipt as well as your team roster to me at: katherinecbabcock@gmail.com. I will then arrange to meet with you to provide you with your reimbursement.

Take a break from all your studying and get out and have some fun!

Each year Club Mech hosts a Christmas Party near the end of classes.  These parties are a longstanding tradition, and are a way for the students to give back to the Faculty and Staff.  And we have Santa Clause to help us.

So come celebrate with us this year on the last day of classes, November 30th, in the CEME Faculty Lounge from 3:00 PM till 5:00 PM.  We will have snacks, eggnog, and cheer!

Club Mech will be having a Cheese and games night on Friday October 26.  We will have Board games, Foosball, Super Smash Bros., and, of course, cheese.  So come out for a great chance to relax after classes, we hope to see you there.
